My first job out of college was consulting for Deloitte, in downtown Manhattan, right across from the World Trade Center. My 7th day on the job was 9/11/2001. One of the many adverse challenges I have had to face in my life.
After two years, I decided to take a break from NYC and experience the rest of the country with a year-long internship with Octagon, running BMW's "Drive for the Cure" Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, across 110 different cities across America.
Then, back to NYC, this time working for American Express, right next door to Deloitte. 3-4 years of awesome experience across product development, marketing, and finance.
Then it felt time for me to go back to school to get my MBA, so down to Chapel Hill I went...UNC Kenan-Flagler. I was trying to go into banking and knocked out Level 1 of the CFA while getting my MBA, and was set to graduate in 2008. Timing is everything. Note to self - not a great time for a career switch into banking when there is a global financial crisis.
So, I took my talents (and my wife, also a UNC Kenan-Flagler alum) to Texas and landed a job at 7-Eleven HQ. More great experience across strategy and development, but something wasn't quite fueling my fire. I wasn't passionate about the work I was doing.
I decided to get bitten by the proverbial entrepreneurial bug. From about 2012-2021, I have worked for FanPrint (social media B2C e-commerce, licensed merchandising) as COO and CounterFind (B2B SaaS, online brand protection) as CEO.
Building products from scratch. Solving problems. Growing a business from zero to multiple millions of revenue. Building teams and relationships. Leading and developing people. THAT fueled my passion, and now I want to help others achieve their goals.
